Getting started

Import a text-based screenplay PDF.
Open Cast & voices, choose your voice engine, and assign voices to the characters and narrator.
Press Play scene. Enable continuation to read through the remaining scenes.

Common questions

Do I need an ElevenLabs account?

No. Installed Apple voices work without an API key or generation credits. ElevenLabs is optional and uses your own account and credits for uncached spoken passages. Previously saved clips are reused.

Why won't my PDF import correctly?

The app expects conventional screenplay formatting and selectable PDF text. Scanned or image-only PDFs are not supported. Unusual layouts may need corrections in the reading view. Simultaneous dialogue is read sequentially.

Can I listen with my phone locked?

Yes. Playback can continue in the background, with Lock Screen play and pause controls. Calls or disconnected headphones pause reading. Force-quitting the app stops playback. Cloud voices need a connection for new audio.

Why is my ElevenLabs key rejected?

Use the full secret API key, not its name, ID, or masked preview. Check the key's permissions and your account's available credits. Never send your secret key to support.

How do I change the pace or narration?

Use the Speed and Pauses sliders. Narration options let you choose whether scene headings and parenthetical directions are spoken.

Where can I download the app?

The App Store release is being prepared. A download link will appear here once Apple approves the release.

Your script and your privacy

PDF import happens on your device. Optional ElevenLabs playback sends the text needed for speech to ElevenLabs. Read the privacy policy for details.
